“Don’t Waste Time”: A Life Lesson from Jack I’ll Never Forget
Jack had so much wisdom and knowledge. Just being around him and getting all those little nuggets of wisdom was a great blessing. When Jack’s grandchildren went to a Christian school that didn’t have football he made it happen. He got everything single thing we needed. My mother has a memory of him at one of the Christian High football games. My mother was walking up the stairs and walked past Jack. She looked at Jack and said “I never thought getting up the stairs would be so hard. ““we’re getting old Jack” my mother said. Jack then responded with” I can’t wait to get to heaven, but not today Lord.” One of the nuggets of wisdom that Jack left behind was to tell me never to waste a person‘s time. And don’t let people waste your time. Be respectful of other people’s time and be at your appointment on time or early. This is something I’ve carried with me since the day he said it. And it is now ingrained in my work ethic. I want to say a big thank you to the Goodall family for always opening up their doors and including people that weren’t family to join them in many different celebrations. We have all been so greatly blessed by your family, Jack… Thank you for all that you’ve done for us and others. You have the biggest heart and I aim to be more like you and Jesus. It hurts to know that you are gone, but the sting is not there because I know you’re in heaven with the Lord God Almighty, and with the love of your life, Mary. I’ll see you at the eastern gate one day Jack!!!
