A True Blessing to Hoover High
I am a Hoover graduate from the class of 1986. Mr. Goodall has been such a blessing to so many of the students at Hoover high. He has generously donated throughout the years. As one of the board members of the Hoover Alumni Organization, I want to send our deepest condolences to the family. I am so happy to know that Mr. Goodall is in his final resting place with the lord.

“Don’t Waste Time”: A Life Lesson from Jack I’ll Never Forget
Jack had so much wisdom and knowledge. Just being around him and getting all those little nuggets of wisdom was a great blessing. When Jack’s grandchildren went to a Christian school that didn’t have football he made it happen. He got everything single thing we needed. My mother has a memory of him at one of the Christian High football games. My mother was walking up the stairs and walked past Jack. She looked at Jack and said “I never thought getting up the stairs would be so hard. ““we’re getting old Jack” my mother said. Jack then responded with” I can’t wait to get to heaven, but not today Lord.” One of the nuggets of wisdom that Jack left behind was to tell me never to waste a person‘s time. And don’t let people waste your time. Be respectful of other people’s time and be at your appointment on time or early. This is something I’ve carried with me since the day he said it. And it is now ingrained in my work ethic. I want to say a big thank you to the Goodall family for always opening up their doors and including people that weren’t family to join them in many different celebrations. We have all been so greatly blessed by your family, Jack… Thank you for all that you’ve done for us and others. You have the biggest heart and I aim to be more like you and Jesus. It hurts to know that you are gone, but the sting is not there because I know you’re in heaven with the Lord God Almighty, and with the love of your life, Mary. I’ll see you at the eastern gate one day Jack!!!

A Son-in-Law’s Tribute to a Life Well-Lived
I am Jack’s son-in-law who married his youngest daughter. I would like to say thank you, Jack, for raising my wife the way you and Mary did. I could not have been blessed with a better woman. As a young man I saw the relationship that Jack and Mary had and I knew that I wanted to emulate that relationship with Jack’s daughter. I appreciate that they took me in as one of their own and loved me as a son showing me kindness for 45 years. The examples of marriage and family that Jack and Mary demonstrated will be forever imprinted on my heart. Not only were Jack and Mary role models as husband and wife, they were role models as grandparents. Their legacy lives on in our children as my kids have been blessed by two of the best grandparents any child could have. We take comfort knowing Jack has been reunited with Mary, the love of his life and my favorite mother-in-law. Together again forever.

True Believer and Friend
A real loss for the community of San Diego and the SDSU athletic program. Jack became a dear friend and supporter of mine during my coaching career at SDSU. He provided me the opportunity of moving to Bend and graciously supported my effort to begin a new carrier outside of coaching. He was willing to trust me by financing this new venture. Jack will always have a very special part of my heart. I'm sure the gracious Lord welcomes Jack home. My thoughts and prayers are with Jack's family and a special prayer to Jeff, Jack's son, for being supportive in my new venture. I loved the support I received fr that very special man!

The Second Grandfather I Never Expected
Of all the people I've met in my life nobody reminded more of my Grandfather than Jack. My grandpa was by far the most influential and supportive person I had growing up. When he passed in 2004 my life forever changed. In many ways that void was filled by the relationship I formed with Jack. I loved every minute I could get to pick his brain on his experiences in life and in business. Multiple trips to Vegas provided time to hear about his accomplishments and views in life. His story about going up to Seattle to be pitched a coffee company was one that stood out. His stories about owning part of the Padres always produced a story you couldn't believe. So many things come to mind about Jack including his love for cars, food, Hoover high school, and obviously SDSU basketball. But above all it was his love for his family that I will remember most. His relationship with Jeff and Whitney was something I used to have with my Grandfather and it always helped me remember how lucky I was to have the relationship I had with mine. Couple additional funny memories that come to mind. I'll let Jeff share the details on this one but watching us play Creighton up at Cal State Fullerton against Doug McDermott is an all time classic . The other one is when I took a private flight home from Vegas with the family after the MWC a few years back and Jack agreed to give me a ride home back to Del Mar. He drove maybe 40 mph on the freeway in his Ashton Martin and I enjoyed the entire ride. Anyone else in the world I would've been so frustrated and scared but to me it just provided me more time to hear one of his legendary stories. Best trip I ever was apart of was the Kansas leg of his trip around the country connecting with some of his old favorite places. This by far is the memory I talk about most. I'll never forget walking into Allen Fieldhouse and a loud mouth Kansas fan points to the Naismith championship trophy on display and asks Jack if he has one of his own. His immediate response before the kid can finish his sentence was "have you ever seen a beach" Lol. Then goes on to say we're gonna kick you ass today! I will always remember he passed away on the morning on opening day of Del Mar. Every time I heard he was at the track I made time to go up and see him in the turf club. All day this year I kept wondering who the "parking lot Joe " tip was? Lol. That's it for now on my memories. He was truly a one of one human and I was beyond blessed to have the opportunity to have him as one of my mentors and friends in life. My condolences go out to the entire Goodall family and I promise to continue to keep Jack's legacy alive and respected forever!

SDSU Hoopla
In 1993 Chad Nelson was a freshman point guard on the Aztec basketball team🏀 the first game was in Peterson gym . Our Hoopla group had sold 20 “front row” seats for $1000 per seat 🏀 we even had to buy the white chairs!! 🏀 When the game ended before going into the locker room my son Chad. ran over to give me a hug😍. Jack said is that your son?? I said yes!!! And I met Jack for the first time👍👍. Jack grew to love Chad and would verbally attack the stat keeper because he didn’t give Chad enough assists🏀 4 years later at Chad going away reception after the game in the sports arena🏀. Jack gave Chad $200 in ones for all the assists the stat guy missed 👍👍👍👍 Jack was a class act, gentleman ,loved his family and made everyone around him better for knowing him. Good Bless you Jack🙏🙏🙏🙏.

Dear friend
Sending the Goodall family my deepest condolences.
I’m sharing a picture of Jack with my husband, Terry Kitaen, and Mike Rogers.
Through the years their friendship became even stronger than it was in high school.
Jack was a dear, dear friend to Terry and me.
He was kind, generous, and so much fun to be around.
After Terry passed in 2021, Jack and Mike have made it a point to include me in their Hoover dinners.
I will always remember how good Jack was to us.
Now he is reunited with Terry and I’m sure they are busy catching up.
My condolences to Kris, as she grieves her loss.
May God continue to bless your family.

Diggy at Grandparents Day
Hi everyone, I am still in shock that he’s gone.
He has always been such an amazing man and has felt like a foundational support in my life that I just never pictured a world without him.
My moms dad died before I was born, and I only met my dads dad a handful of times before he passed away.
Diggy was definitely the closest thing I had to a grandpa, even if he wasn’t that much older than my parents.
He even came to support me on Grandparents day one year at Francis Parker elementary school.
And I’ll never forget that he went out of his way to show up for me.
Love you all!

Cars and Fun
Since I have been a good friend of Jeff’s since the second grade, Jeff’s Dad was always known to me as Mr. Goodall.
Mr. Goodall always liked cars, dating back to the days we’d all enjoyed go carting together in Mission Valley.
He was always the first to join in on the fun! His fascination with fine auto’s grew over time.
Anthony’s & Hob-Knob Hill were some of his favorite places for lunch with friends & family.
We’re all going to miss you ~ Mr. Goodall, and we’re wishing you and your family love, comfort, & peace.

A Great Mentor
Jack meant a great deal to me, the Hoover community and San Diego in general.
While many people affectionately knew Jack as "Jack from Jack In The Box", I knew him as a dear friend and great mentor.
One of my many conversations with Jack literally helped change my life and inspired me to do what I am doing now and subsequently has led me to great happiness.
Without Jack's influence and wisdom I dont think I would be where I am today.
Jack was so generous and kind and supportive and he was such a wonderful role model to so many people.
His support of the Stockton Knights and Hoover High School benefitted and changed the lives of so many kids.
Jack personally got involved in mentoring young men like Todd Doxey and JayDee Luster and had countless positive conversations with so many other young men as well as doling out thousands of dollars in scholarships and donations to kids in need.
No matter what was needed Jack was always a phone call away to help and never wanted any credit or recognition.
The Walk of Champions at Hoover is named after Jack and his beloved wife Mary and realistically they both deserved to be recognized in much grander and significant ways than that.
San Diego and Hoover have lost a true icon, but personally I have lost a true friend of 30 years and I will always remember and be thankful to him for his knowledge, guidance, friendship and support.
My heart goes out to the Goodall family who lost their Patriarch but I am also so grateful that they shared this great man with me and all of San Diego.
We lost 1 of 1 but Jack Goodall truly lived life the right way and impacted everyone who knew him.
God Bless You Jack and the entire Goodall Family!

Neighborhood memories
I have been next door neighbors to the Goodalls almost continuously for the last 30 years, first as a child, then as an adult when I bought my parents house.
I’m thankful for the kindness showed by Jack and Mary when I was a child.
A memory that sticks out is them being the first house we would trick or treat as kids (since the Goodalls were our next door neighbors), and that Jack and Mary would always bust out multiple, extra large candy bars upon our arrival with large smiles on their faces.
Sorry for you loss, and let us know if there as anything we can do.
Your next door neighbor,
Max Doshay
Sending love

A lifetime of admiration
We first met in the second grade of Euclid Grammar School, and we've been close friends ever since.
As time went on I had the honor of watching Jack not only succeed in many of life's challenges, but use his earnings to form a better San Diego.
And we became family.
The Tuesday prior to his passing, Mike Rogers and I shared the honor of enjoying a meal at Jack's home.
It was all Jack – smiling as he shared his many experiences at Hoover High and San Diego State University.
He was a wonderful man – who left the world better off than when he came here.
I send my love to each and every one of you.
